Johnson City, TN – Prior to any track & field competition at the 2010 Indoor National Championships, Coaches Brad Peterson and Matt Kennedy collected a little hardware.
In their first full season at the helm, the Friends University coaches were named Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference Indoor Coaches of the Year.
“It is an honor to receive this award,” said Coach Peterson. “It is a tribute to these young men that have bought into what we are trying to accomplish here and have worked extremely hard. It is a joy to coach such high character individuals that do things the right way. I also couldn’t have done it without great help from Coach Kennedy as we do most everything collaboratively.”
In his first collegiate head coaching position, women’s head coach Matt Kennedy echoed many of the same thoughts. “I really couldn’t be more pleased with this team. They are never satisfied and are always pushing each other to achieve greater successes. From all the athletes at home training this week, to our great assistant coaching staff; this is an outstanding unit of individuals that have a strong desire to be successful – and win.”
The Friends University Track & Field sent a record number of athletes to compete this weekend in Johnson City, Tennessee at the 2010 Indoor National Championships. Eighteen men and women, the largest number in school history, will line up Thursday through Saturday against the nation’s best.
