Falcons Get Their Chance to Fly

Three Friends University’s seniors from the 2009 baseball squad will be leaving this week to participate in a 2 day tryout for free agents with the Philadelphia Phillies. LHP Jimmy Treece, OF Lane Wolfer and SS Austin Stading received word last month that they had been selected to the tryout in Camden NJ September 11th and 12th.
“I am truly excited for these young men. They will be given a great opportunity to show scouts what they are capable. I have no doubt that that they will make a favorable impression on the scouts. It will hopefully open the door for more Falcon baseball players to break into professional baseball” states Coach Leppert.
Austin Stading was awarded KCAC 1st team all conference in the 2009 season; he finished last year hitting .308 and leading the team with 15 homeruns. Lane Wolfer also finished last season on the KCAC 1st team after being asked to play, 3rd base, LF, CF, RF for the Falcons while hitting .385 with 7 homeruns and 6 outfield assists.
The Falcons open their season February 9th at USAO and open at home February 13th at 1pm vs. Briar Cliff University
