Falcon Baseball Drops 1st Game of Tournament
The Friends University fortunes did not go as planned in their first game of the KCAC post-season baseball tournament. The Falcons took the field against Tabor College and surprised many by jumping out to a 5-0 lead in the first inning. Pitcher Nick Gauna was in strong command on the mound getting ahead on batters until a line drive by a Tabor batter struck Gauna in the leg and forced the pitcher to the dugout for the remainder of the game. The change seemed to affect the team as relief pitching struggled to find a grove and the Bluejays patiently began to chip away at the lead. After four innngs the Falcons still held a 7-3 lead but things seemed to unravel as the Falcon defense began to make mistakes. Tabor College grabbed the lead after a 7-7 tie and held on for a 10-7 victory. The loss places Friends University in the consolation bracket where the Falcons will play the loser of the Sterling vs. St. Mary game at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, April 30. The KCAC tournament is being held at Rathert field in Junction City, KS
