Beautiful spring weather proved kind to the Friends University baseball team.
The Falcons defeated the Ottawa Braves 14-0 and 12-2 in KCAC action at the Westurban complex in Wichita, KS.
In game one the Falcons bats exploded for 14 runs with 12 of them coming in second inning. The Falcons where lead by Junior Catcher Josh Tucker with two hits and a all around team effort with 8 out of 9 starters registered a hit. Joe Thibault Senior RHP /IB held the Braves down for four innings only giving up one hit before the Falcons went to the bullpen for the final three outs.
In game two the Falcons continued their offensive explosion with a 12-2 victory. With the score tied at 2 in the 3rd inning the Falcons turned to Freshman RHP Brock Vizner (Maize, KS). With the base loaded Vizner forced a pop up by the 1st hitter, then quickly ended the inning by causing the next Ottawa hitter to ground into a 4-6-3 double play. Momentum now on their side the Falcons scored 10 unanswered runs, 1 off the bat of Daniel Camacho's (Andover, KS) home run.
The Falcons are back in action Tuesday at Oklahoma City (currently ranked # 1 in the NAIA polls). The Falcons return home March 24th for a double-header vs. Southern Nazarene University with first pitch scheduled for 1pm.
